Lost Paradise

Apologies for the three week delay posting this. But better belated than benevered, right?

So, having failed initial intentions of going to Falls Marion Bay or a week in Bali, a good friend of mine proposed the questionable Lost Paradise (LP) festival. At first I thought ermm … yoga at a festival, only four bands playing that I really cared about, portaloos, the inevitable baby wipe showers, and camping in the hot hot heat (yep imma gettin old). But I was convinced somehow and it ended up being one of the best festivals I’ve been to and a great transition into a new year.

LP, in the beautiful Glenworth Valley, was a small festival – two main stages, two small dance spaces, one bar, a few food stalls and a lot of space. There were no lines at the bar, ample dance space to move around at the main stages, no idiots, happy/friendly people and good vibes all round. Having been to a few big festivals, these small, intimate types are just as great, possibly even better and less frustrating. Music highlights for me were: Hiatus Kaiyote, The Delta Riggs, Pond, Carl Craig, Badbadnotgood and The Preatures (despite playing a short set). Also, some of the DJs that played at the doofdoof tent were also very fun. Another highlight was the little wooden shed that fit about 10 people playing techno music, especially the sneaking in part. Also some advice, don’t do fancy dinners at festivals. lol.

Also attributable to the great mems from the festival were the great people we met, vodka sauce, mountain nap times, dressing up as indians (albeit politically incorrect), and my first ever leech on the first day of the new year. Thankfully, it wasn’t too keen on my blood. Note: the leech happened after a bushwalk and therefore self-inflicted, and not from the festival itself.

LP started the new year off splendidly. One for the memory books.
